First courgettes

I picked the first courgettes today, (20 June 2008) they were small but delicious. That might be anything unusual but for us it is early. In this part of the UK we get -10C every winter and frosts in June are not exceptional. So this year I used a bed in my small (4.6m x 3m)  polytunnel. I also chose a climbing variety thinking it would save space. Wrong! The plants are huge and I am yet to be convinced they will go up instead of across the bed, watch this space...
