Lack of insects this year

Postby Colin on Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:06 AM

There is a real lack of insects in the garden this year; I have not seen a single ladybird. There have been a few aphids but far less than normal. One of the Blackcurrant bushes is usually covered but this year it is completely free. Neither are there any cabbage whites, there are no signs of eggs on the brassicas. Some might say this is good but it is not. Insects are at the bottom of the food chain and if they go then birds will follow.
