BIOTAL-
Biological Compost Maker - Leaves
What
the manufacturer says
"A unique liquid bio composter containing specially
formulated fungi which accelerate the process of breaking down leaves
into high quality leaf mould to replace peat and other soil conditioners.
How to
Use
Gather leaves and place in black plastic bag. Shake the bottle and
squeeze 10ml into the special measuring chamber on the bottle. Add to
2 gallons of water in a watering can and thoroughly drench the leaves.
After 1 week pierce the bag several times with a garden fork. Check on
progress after 3 months and monthly thereafter until ready for use. For
best results use the Biotal Compost-A-Cube which holds approximately 8
bin bags of leaves and is ready perforated and re-usable. If possible
shred leaves first. If bags are unsuitable or unavailable, pile the leaves
into a heap or chicken wire enclosure, drench with Biotal solution and
cover. 10ml will treat one large bin bag of leaves.
Safety
Biotal Compost Maker is a naturally occurring non toxic, non hazardous
product. No special precautions needed when in use."
The
Verdict
Superb results in just 1 year! A bag of mainly oak leaves was collected
in November 1996 and treated with the Compost Maker. In November 1997
the bag contained rich, black compost. For those without space for the
traditional chicken wire leaf mould heaps the Biotal bag method
really does work and works fast! The plan this year is to make 10 times
more leaf mould using this product. Thoroughly recommended!
